Robert J. Davis
Born in 1934, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa in 1961. He is one of the nation's few business leaders who were licensed and active for many years in three of the most important areas of business: Real Estate, Investments and Insurance. Starting in 1975, Bob realized that a new concept of all-suite hotels would revolutionalize the lodging industry. He then raised the capital to build several Granada Royale Hometels, and thrust the chain into national prominence. Embassy Suites purchased the chain in 1984, and is the acknowledged leader in all-suite hotels. Over the past 36 years since he, his wife and six children moved from Iowa City, IA to Phoenix, AZ, the vast majority of Mr. Davis's business activities have been focused on two primary investments: (1) raw land syndication and (2) raising capital to fund all-suite hotels. Mr. Davis is the author of two books, Be Money Smart and Right Under Your Feet. Bob's avocation over the past 63 years is golf. He was a three-year Letterman at the University of Iowa and was runner-up in 1959 at the Big Ten Championship. He competed against Jack Nicklaus in 1960 and 1961 in the Big Ten Championships. After moving to Arizona in 1971, he has won six Arizona Golf Association State Championships. He won five State Father and Son Championships and one AGA State Match Play Championship.
